About Adani Energy Solutions

Started out as About Adani Energy Solutions, Adani Energy Solutions is a part of Adani Group. The company is involved in the establishing, commissioning, setting up, operating and maintaining electric power transmission systems in India. The Adani Group started its voyage in the transmission industry in 2006 to assist in the power evacuation from its Mundra thermal power plant. As a result, 3800 circuit kilometres (ckm) of dedicated transmission lines connecting Mundra-Dehgam, Mundra- Mahendragarh, and Tiroda-Warora were put into service. The company was listed on BSE and NSE in 2015 after an IPO.

An additional transmission line with more than 1200 ckms was put into service in 2014 to help with the electricity evacuation of the Tiroda power plant.  In 2015, Adani Transmission Limited (ATL) was established as a separate entity and was demerged from Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL) to carry out prospects in the transmission industry. The company’s name was changed to Adani  Energy Solutions Limited from Adani Transmission Limited, effective July 27, 2023.

In 2016, the company received an award for the ATRL project and received an award for the NKTL (North Karanpura Transco Ltd.) project. In 2021, it acquired Warora Kurnool Transmission Limited from Essel Infraprojects Ltd.

Business Segment

  • Power Transmission: Under this segment, the company owns and operates various High voltage AC transmission lines and substations of 132kV, 220kV, 400kV, and 765kV voltage levels and also High Voltage DC transmission lines and substations of +/- 500kV voltage level.
  • Power Distribution: The company entered the segment by acquiring the Mumbai power distribution business from Reliance Infrastructure in 2018. The plans for the segment revolve around expanding its presence in newer geographies in pursuit of India’s vision of ‘Power for All’.
  • Smart Metering: The company forayed into the Smart Meter Business in 2022  by winning the Bombay Electric Supply & Transport (BEST) project to install 10.8 Lakh Smart Meters. In addition, the company won the bid to install 7.7 Lakh “Smart Meters” for Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL).
  • Cooling Solutions: ATL has ventured into the District Cooling domain and set up Adani Cooling Solutions Limited (ACSL). The business deals with district cooling and thermal energy storage.

As of March 31, 2023, the company recorded 55 subsidiaries and few of them are listed below:

  • Adani Transmission (India) Limited: It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Adani Energy Solutions Limited, which provides transmission services.
  • Maharashtra Eastern Grid Power Transmission Company Limited: A wholly-owned subsidiary of AESL. It derived 18.83% of the consolidated revenue of AESL. 
  • Sipat Transmission Limited: It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of AESL. The company contributed 0.56% of revenue for the consolidated entity in FY 2023.

Anil Sardana, MD

Anil Sardana is the Managing Director & CEO of AESL with effect from  May 01, 2018. He took over the additional responsibility for Adani Power w.e.f. July 2020. He was the CEO & Managing Director of Tata Power for over 7 years till 30th April 2018. 

Management Outlook

  • The company believes that it is well-positioned to capture future growth through multiple avenues, such as the robust under-construction pipeline worth ₹220 bn (including the Mumbai-HVDC project and smart metering LOI projects).
