Tata Trusts, one of India's most influential philanthropic bodies, has inducted 32-year-old Neville Tata and veteran Bhaskar Bhat to the board of Sir Dorabji Tata Trust.
The move underscores a generational transition and strategic realignment under Chairman Noel Tata’s leadership.
The inclusion of Neville Tata, son of chairman Noel Tata, and Bhaskar Bhat, former Titan MD, strengthens the governance structure of Tata Trusts.
Neville has had a steady rise within the Tata ecosystem, beginning his journey with Trent in 2016 after graduating from Bayes Business School. He later led the fast-growing Zudio brand and earned an MBA from INSEAD, Singapore.
Bhaskar Bhat, from IIT Madras and IIM Ahmedabad, brings deep experience, having driven Titan’s diversification during his 17-year tenure as MD.
These appointments follow the Maharashtra Public Trusts (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025, which limits lifetime trustees to one-fourth of a trust's board.
This regulation prompted the board to revise trustee terms, including changing Venu Srinivasan’s life term to 3 years.
The board now comprises 6 members, with the potential for Neville to be added to the Sir Ratan Tata Trust, which, along with Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, holds over 51% stake in Tata Sons.

The executive committee, earlier formed for quick decision-making, has been dissolved. Previously led by figures like Ratan Tata and Mehli Mistry, its responsibilities will now be managed directly by the Trust’s CEO under Noel Tata’s oversight.
This reshuffle points to a streamlined structure and greater centralisation.
The appointment of Neville Tata and Bhaskar Bhat to the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust represents a leadership transition that combines younger leadership with experienced guidance. This structural change reflects Tata Trusts' approach to succession planning under Noel Tata's chairmanship.
