
Tata Power Company Limited has unveiled an ambitious investment plan worth ₹25,000 crore to accelerate its renewable and hydro power portfolio over the next 2 financial years.
The move aligns with the company’s long-term vision to expand its clean energy footprint and support India’s transition towards a sustainable and diversified power ecosystem.
Managing Director and CEO Praveer Sinha said the company aims to add 4,000 MW of new renewable capacity by FY27, including 1,500 MW in the current year and another 2,500 MW in the next. The planned investments will be channelled into solar and wind projects across multiple states, backed by improving policy support and rising energy demand.
He said, “Our overall plan is to invest ₹25,000 crore this year and the next for new renewable energy capacity projects. This expansion underlines our commitment to building a robust green energy base for India.”
Tata Power is also exploring a proposal to establish 10 GW of ingot and wafer manufacturing capacity, strengthening India’s solar component supply chain. The company is evaluating the investment framework, including technology selection and government incentive structures.
Additionally, its board has approved a 1,125 MW hydroelectric project in Bhutan, a joint venture with the Government of Bhutan holding 60% equity and Tata Power 40%. The project, financed by the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation, is set to commence construction in June 2026.
